Martin Schindler has risen through the ranks to become Germany’s most successful ever darts player, winning a hat-trick of European Tour titles on the PDC circuit. ‘The Wall’ opened his title account on the professional tour with a victory in the 2024 International Darts Open, before doubling his tally with success at the Swiss Darts Trophy later that year.

The German trailblazer continued to add to his trophy cabinet in 2025 with his first floor title in Players Championship 8, before returning to winning ways on the stage with a victory at the Austrian Darts Open. Schindler has also made his mark on the major stage with a pair of quarter-final runs at the 2023 UK Open and 2023 World Grand Prix, while he also broke into the top 16 in the world rankings in 2025.

Why is Martin Schindler called “The Wall”?

Why is Martin Schindler called the wall - Martin Schindler has ‘The Wall’ as his darts nickname because he was born close to the former Berlin Wall in Germany.  Schindler was born in the town of Strausberg, in eastern Germany, which is located around 19 miles east of Berlin.

‘The Wall’ has been the first German player to achieve several milestones in the PDC. At the 2024 Hungarian Trophy, Schindler became the first player from Germany to hit a nine-dart leg in a senior PDC tournament on stage, and a week later his victory in the Swiss Darts Trophy saw him become the first German to win multiple European Tour titles. He is also the first player from Germany to break into the top 16 in the PDC world rankings.
