Nathan Aspinall has been competing on the professional darts circuit for over a decade now, having first joined the PDC tour back in 2015. ‘The Asp’ appeared in the final of the PDC World Youth Championship at the end of that year, but his big senior breakthrough would come three years later. The Stockport thrower won his first PDC ranking title in a Players Championship in September 2018, before going all the way to the semi-finals in his PDC World Darts Championship debut a few months later. Aspinall captured his maiden PDC major title at the 2019 UK Open, defeating Rob Cross 11-5 in the final with a memorable 170 finish.

A second TV title followed for ‘The Asp’ in the 2019 US Darts Masters, before another deep run at Alexandra Palace capped off his 2019-20 campaign, reaching the semi-finals for the second consecutive year. The fans’ favourite then became a Premier League Darts regular, competing in the 2020, 2021 and 2023 seasons. Aspinall finished runner-up in the 2020 Premier League, 2022 World Grand Prix and 2022 Grand Slam of Darts, before winning his second major title at the 2023 World Matchplay, seeing off Jonny Clayton 18-6 in the final.

Aspinall has continued to make his mark in the sport’s biggest tournaments, reaching two more major finals in the 2023 World Series of Darts Finals and the 2025 Players Championship Finals. ‘The Asp’ enjoyed another couple of seasons in the Premier League in 2024 and 2025, reaching the play-offs for a third time in 2025. He broke his duck on the European Tour with three event wins in 2025, followed by a fourth in early 2026 to once again outline his credentials as one of the current top players in the world.

Nathan Aspinall won his first PDC major title at the 2019 UK Open, winning the final in style with a memorable 170 checkout. ‘The Asp’ went into the tournament at Butlin’s Minehead ranked just outside the world’s top 32, having just made the semi-finals of the 2018/19 PDC World Darts Championship on debut and as a 500/1 outsider.

His run to the UK Open title included wins against Toni Alcinas (6-3), Christian Kist (10-9), Madars Razma (10-2), Steve Lennon (10-8), Ross Smith (10-6), Gerwyn Price (11-9) and Rob Cross (11-5). Aspinall wrapped up the title with an incredible ‘big fish’, hitting two treble 20s and the bullseye to beat Cross, with that victory taking him into the world’s top 16 for the first time.

World Matchplay 2023

Nathan Aspinall doubled his major title tally in the PDC with a victory in the 2023 World Matchplay. ‘The Asp’ fought his way through a high-quality field at the Winter Gardens, beating Krzysztof Ratajski (10-7), Danny Noppert (11-9), Chris Dobey (16-12), Joe Cullen (17-9) and Jonny Clayton (18-6) to get his hands on one of the biggest trophies in the sport.

From 5-5 at the second interval in the final, Aspinall raced away to the title, winning 13 of the next 14 legs to cruise to victory and lift the Phil Taylor Trophy for the first time. Since then, he has won more silverware on the European Tour, in 2025 winning the European Darts Trophy, European Darts Open and German Darts Championship, and in 2026 the German Darts Grand Prix.
